Not sure the picture is actually the lady in question. Apparently she is often mistaken for the lady in the photo. The confusion cannot be helped by the fact they put the other ladys photo on the website.
Respect to the first person to snap the 'detective' in question. Scenes of accidents in Maine would appear to be good places to start investigations
Umm, they are characters in a novel.
Yeah :)
I thought it was kinda cool.
Folks, Blue Devil Knight is correct— Dakota and Svetlana are characters from a PI/mystery novel I'm currently shopping around to literary agents here in New York.
I'm flattered that you guys found the blog entry on these two and that they seem real enough to chat about. You can read a lot more about the characters at my main website.
If you're interested in Svetlana in particular, here's a buried piece about how I got the idea for her: How I Got the Idea for Svetlana
I would love to get input from members of the chess community on aspects of the tournament world or traits that I might eventually give to her. For the record, I was born in Maine (Augusta) and for a time taught high school in Freeport while playing chess at some cafe in Portland's Old Port. I also had a USCF rating for about 10 minutes.
Best wishes to y'all, and feel free to get in touch with me anytime with your ideas.
Thanks,

Thanks for taking the time to visit Chris. Goodluck with your series, if you make it to major motion picture land with Dakota and Svetlana I am taking major credit for helping to launch you!
I mean this blog probably introduced at least 3 potential readers to your website.
:P
