And best to you, too!
Huzzah! Good luck this year fellow Knight!
I grew up in Maine and played back in a day when Stan Elowitch was top seed. I grew up in Brunswick and my father was an avid chess player and is still the Maine chess association's treasurer.
BP aka George Duval
Outstanding BP. I've met your father and I'm fairly sure I've met you before. I'm certainly no giant on the scene though so I'd probably not stand out in your mind as someone you remember.
Thanks for the comments.
Cool! I played on the Brunswick team back in the late 70's early 80's when Graham Cooper, Dan Centeneo, Skip Hansen, Cliff Nadeau and my Dad were active.
I worked at Farichild back in a day and lived in Portland for a while and went to the Portland CC wehn Stuart Laughlin was the president ( before his dimentia settled in).
Work and the economy led me out of Maine to make a long story short ( Not much high tech for an engineer in Maine). I miss it though... it was a "wicked decent" place to live. ;)
Where did you meet my dad and where might you have run into me?
I used to participate in the Maine Chess League with the Lewiston club in the late 80's early 90's. I was still in High School then. At the time I went to about 80% of the tournaments in Maine.
I don't play in many tournaments today. Maybe one every couple of years. I go to the Waterville club, and occassionally will go to the Augusta Barnes and Noble on a Tuesday evening and play some blitz there.
